My Recipe Vault Privacy Policy

My Recipe Vault is built on a simple principle: your recipes are yours. The app is designed to store data on your device and in your own iCloud account - not on our servers.

What Data the App Stores

All recipe data (recipes, ingredients, steps, images, shopping list items, and nutrition estimates) is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. No recipe content is ever sent to our servers.

Optional iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, your recipe data syncs to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We never have access to it.

Network Requests the App Makes

The app makes the following outbound network requests. None of them include personal information or device identifiers.

Recipe Import from a URL

When you paste a URL to import a recipe, the app fetches the HTML of that page directly from the website - the same request your browser would make. No information about you is included beyond a standard iPhone Safari user-agent string.

Recipe Images

When importing a recipe, the app may download the recipe's cover image from the source website and store it locally on your device.

Nutrition Lookup (USDA FoodData Central)

When estimating nutrition for a recipe, the app sends ingredient names (for example, “olive oil” or “chicken breast”) to the USDA FoodData Central API, a free public service operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Only the food term is sent - no account information, location, or other personal data. The USDA's data is public-domain; their service is not an advertising or analytics platform.

App Configuration Update

Once every 24 hours, the app checks config.myrecipevault.com for updated ad-blocking and diet-rule configuration files. This is a plain file download; no information about you or your device is included in the request.

Device Permissions

Camera

My Recipe Vault requests camera access when you choose to capture a photo of a physical recipe card for text recognition. Photos are processed on-device and are never uploaded.

Reminders

My Recipe Vault requests Reminders access when you export a shopping list to the Apple Reminders app. Items are written directly to your Reminders database on-device; we do not read, modify, or transmit your existing reminders.

Analytics and Advertising

My Recipe Vault contains no analytics libraries, no advertising SDKs, and no crash-reporting services that transmit data to third parties. There is no tracking of how you use the app.

Children's Privacy

My Recipe Vault does not knowingly collect any information from anyone. Because no personal information is collected at all, the app is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we add features that change what data is collected or transmitted, we will update this policy before releasing the update and note the change in the App Store release notes.
